Through your ears to hear, to listen and to understand
Is to make gold of grain and golden grain of sand.
Only when what’s to be got from listening has been got
May one turn to what from eating may be brought.
Offerings turn stone to Gods
Listening makes humans of gastropods.
Learn by listening if from reading you cannot
That’ll be the staff from which your grip on life is got.
Quotes from the Bhagwada Gita,
One is dearest to God who has no enemies among the living beings, who is nonviolent to all creatures. I look upon all creatures equally; none are less dear to me and none more dear. But those who worship me with love live in me, and I come to life in them.
He alone who truly sees the Lord the same in every creature… seeing the same Lord everywhere, he does not harm himself or others.
Be fearless and pure; never waver in your determination or your dedication to the spiritual life. Give freely. Be self-controlled, sincere, truthful, loving and full of desire to serve… Learn to be detached and to take joy in renunciation. Do not get angry or harm any living creature, but be compassionate and gentle; show good will to all. Cultivate vigour, patience, will, purity; avoid malice and pride. Then you will achieve your destiny.

The sound of the rustling of the leaves and the brushing of the breeze on our face. All our senses are tuned to these wondrous gifts of responses from mother earth. What happens our senses are very seductive; they ensnare us and we become their willing victims. Continue reading

Swami Satyanananda Saraswati visited Mount Kailash, when he was still in Tibet. Lake Mansarover is at the foot of the mountain. There was no sign of life there. No chanting, no prayers, just total silence. Since eternity it had been like this. He was the only soul present thereon that day. His pony and his Tibetan guide were with him. He took his bath in the clear, blue freezing water. After his bath, he thought to himself what do I do next. His mind stopped functioning. Continue reading
You will be surprised at my title. I have five outside cats living with me. They come and go and they consider themselves the owners of our balcony. This morning I had the mother and her daughter squabbling for space in the balcony and the mother was not allowing her daughter to eat her breakfast. The daughter was left by the mother, and she was raised by me on Meeow. Her name is Lulu Lola. Continue reading
