501 – Practice Atmabhava every day – Part 2

Yesterday I wrote about the daily practice of atmabhava and making it a part of our life. I also wrote about the different days of the week dedicated to the Gods. The point I am making is that we must be aware of God’s presence all the time. Many of us by fasting, only remember the specific God, because we desire something. The point here is fasting is good, it purifies one only if we have unconditional love for the divine. There is to be no expectations. When I started the practice of Yoga, I went with the intention of curing my arthritic pain. It was my objective as I had twin sons, who were fearless, snake chasing, 3 years old, and a loving cats. My husband was away at work and I was going crazy. A friend suggested that I go to the Bihar School of Yoga Ashram and get help for my left hand, as I am left handed and found it difficult to brush my hair, plus perform all the other mundane tasks which make up a young mum’s life. Silence exists within oneself. We can be in a forest and have a clamour of thoughts within us. The first ashram of the Bihar School of Yoga was near a railway track in Munger. Swami Atma speaks about how he got deeper into Yoga. What made him take a Yoga Teachers Training Course? How did he meet his Guru, Swami Vishnu-devananda? What made him dedicate his life to Yoga? Swami Atma is one of the most popular Yoga Teachers at Yoga Vidya Germany. He is born in France, took his Yoga Teachers Training Course at the Sivananda Yoga Ashram Kerala/India. He became a disciple of Swami Vishnu-devananda in the middle of the 1980s.
